Join Dr. Miller at the Texas State Capitol on October 9th for PANS Awareness Day
PANS/PANDAS can change a child’s life almost overnight. A child who was thriving suddenly develops intense anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, eating restrictions, rage, or regression. Families are often left searching for answers, care, and people who understand.
I am so excited to announce that I will be speaking at the 4th Annual PANS & PANDAS Awareness Day at the Texas State Capitol in Austin on Friday, October 9. I hope you'll join us.
United for awareness, support, and hope
This year's theme is UNITED. When families, advocates, clinicians, educators, and community leaders come together, our voices are stronger and hope grows.
The event is hosted by PANS Awareness TX. It has grown every year. Last year about 75 people attended, and 9 legislative offices were represented. This year it moves to a larger space, the Legislative Conference Center (LCC) in the Capitol Extension. The new space means more room for families, practitioners, and legislators to connect. It also includes lunch and a kids' activity area where children can take a break and spend time together.
Meet the expert panel
I'm honored to join a panel of clinicians and advocates who work with PANS and PANDAS from many angles:
Amy Offutt, MD, MS: Board-certified in integrative medicine; Texas PANS Advisory Council member
Jana Roso, PNP-C, APRN, FMAPS: Pediatric nurse practitioner; co-author of The Parent's Roadmap to Autism
Angelina Farella, MD: Board-certified pediatrician specializing in PANS/PANDAS and neurodevelopmental conditions
Elizabeth Miller, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT-S: Texas PANS Advisory Council member; founder of Well Mind Body
Lizzie Martinez, MA, MHOM, CCH: Board-certified homeopath specializing in complex pediatric cases
Courtney Dillon, MS, LPC: Licensed professional counselor working with OCD, anxiety, trauma, and PANS/PANDAS
Rev. Kelley Siliven: Parent advocate; vice president of PANS Awareness TX; founder of Dragonfly Hope
As a member of the Texas PANS Advisory Council and a therapist who works with these families, I'll be speaking about the mental health side of PANS and PANDAS. That includes the emotional toll on children and parents, and how families can find support while they navigate treatment.
You're invited
Whether you're a parent, a caregiver, a clinician, an educator, or someone who simply wants to learn more, there's a place for you at this event. Every family that shows up helps legislators see why awareness, research, and access to care matter.
