Frequently Asked Questions
Well Mind Body: Frequently Asked Questions
At Well Mind Body Integrative Psychotherapy & Wellness, we understand that starting therapy or wellness services comes with many questions. Below, you’ll find clear answers about our process, philosophy, and what to expect as you begin your journey toward healing and balance.
Important: Well Mind Body is a non-crisis, non-emergency outpatient practice. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
For 24/7 support, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or Crisis Intervention of Houston at 713-468-5463.
What Can I Expect During a Counseling Session?
Our counseling and psychotherapy services are grounded in compassion, collaboration, and whole-person care. Whether you’re seeking help for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, our experienced therapists are here to walk alongside you.
We use integrative, evidence-based approaches to support healing in mind, body, and spirit. You’ll experience a warm, nonjudgmental space where your story matters and your well-being is the priority. Sessions are personalized to your goals, helping you move toward greater clarity, resilience, and balance.
We serve clients in-person in Houston, TX, and virtually across Texas (and Missouri with Mary Beth Lee). We welcome individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life and specialize in integrative therapy, trauma-informed care, couples counseling, wellness coaching, and mind-body healing.
What Can I Expect During a Wellness Coaching Session?
A Wellness Coaching Session with Dr. Elizabeth Miller, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT-S is a collaborative, science-based experience focused on optimizing your emotional, physical, and cognitive health.
Sessions integrate mind-body medicine, functional wellness testing, and nutrigenomics to create a personalized plan for your unique biology. Using advanced tools such as the NeuroWell+ and MaxGen “The Works” panels, Dr. Miller evaluates key pathways that influence mood, energy, hormones, detoxification, and stress response.
Together, you will:
Review your current health and wellness patterns
Discuss results of any functional or genetic testing
Identify areas of imbalance (energy, sleep, digestion, focus, etc.)
Develop a plan grounded in neuroscience, nutrition, and mindfulness
Unlike psychotherapy, wellness coaching is future-focused and designed to enhance well-being, resilience, and lifestyle alignment—not diagnose or treat mental illness.
Do You Accept Insurance?
Well Mind Body is an out-of-network private practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but provide superbills (itemized receipts) through your secure client portal, which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients receive partial reimbursement after meeting their deductible.
How to Use Out-of-Network Benefits
Check your benefits: Call your insurer and ask:
Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health?
What is my deductible and how much remains?
What percentage is reimbursed after I meet it?
Are telehealth sessions covered?
How do I submit claims?
Pay for sessions directly: Payment is due at the time of service. Superbills are uploaded to your portal after each visit.
Submit your claim: Most insurers allow online claim submission via your member portal or app. Attach your superbill and required forms.
Receive reimbursement: Processing typically takes 2–4 weeks; reimbursement is sent directly to you.
Our team is happy to help you navigate this process.
What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?
Payment is due at the time of service.
We accept:
All major credit and debit cards
HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards
Checks
A credit card must remain on file for billing and cancellations, even if using an HSA or FSA card. All payment data is encrypted and stored in a HIPAA-compliant system.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Missed or late cancellations are billed in full. Your session time is reserved exclusively for you.
What Types of Therapy Do You Offer?
Our clinicians provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families using approaches such as:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Trauma-informed and somatic integration
Mind-Body and Integrative Psychotherapy
Each treatment plan is customized to your goals and pace for healing.
Do You Work with Children and Teens?
Yes. Several of our clinicians specialize in child and adolescent therapy, helping kids and teens manage anxiety, build confidence, and navigate social or academic challenges. We emphasize trust, communication, and parent support throughout the process.
What Is Integrative Psychotherapy?
Integrative psychotherapy blends traditional talk therapy with mind-body and lifestyle approaches. We explore how emotions, physical health, and environment interact to treat the whole person, not just symptoms, improving focus, mood, and long-term regulation.
Can I Book Functional or Nutrigenomic Testing?
Yes. Dr. Elizabeth Miller offers advanced testing through NeuroWell+ and MaxGen “The Works.” These assess how genetics and biochemistry affect mood, focus, energy, detoxification, and nutrient metabolism, helping you create a targeted wellness plan. If you are interested in functional or nutrigenomic testing, please book an Integrative Wellness Coaching session with Dr. Elizabeth Miller. Please note that Integrative Wellness Coaching Sessions are separate from counseling and psychotherapy.
Do You Offer Couples or Family Therapy?
Yes. We help couples and families strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and navigate transitions with compassion. Sessions focus on safety, understanding, and reconnection.
Do You Offer Evening or Weekend Sessions?
Some clinicians offer limited evening or weekend availability. Check our online booking portal for current options.
What If I’ve Tried Therapy Before and It Didn’t Help?
That’s okay, therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We’ll explore what didn’t work before and create an approach that fits your needs, personality, and pace. Our process is warm, relational, and collaborative.
Do You Offer Sliding Scale Rates?
Yes. Reduced-rate sessions may be available through our associate-level clinicians. Please inquire for current openings.
