Therapy for high-achievers, parents, and busy professionals navigating stress, change, and relationships.
I’m Alberta Totz, JD, LPC, a licensed professional counselor in Houston and a proud wife and mother of three. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years practicing law, an experience that taught me how people think under pressure, how relationships evolve under stress, and how deeply we all need to be heard.
My background in law gives me a unique ability to work with high-performing adults, parents, and professionals who often appear “put together” but feel exhausted, anxious, or disconnected beneath the surface. I understand what it’s like to juggle ambition, family, and identity and how easy it is to lose your sense of balance along the way.
In therapy, I bring together psychoanalytic insight, relational therapy, and mind-body integration to help clients create meaningful, lasting change. My style is warm, structured, and collaborative, part reflection, part strategy. I help clients untangle perfectionism, navigate life transitions, and rebuild a sense of calm and clarity.
Whether you’re coping with stress, anxiety, burnout, divorce recovery, or identity shifts, our work together focuses on helping you slow down, reconnect, and rediscover a steadier rhythm in your life.

Who I Work With
I work with adults, couples, and families navigating a range of emotional, relational, and life transition challenges. I especially love supporting:
Adults managing anxiety, depression, and overwhelm
Couples seeking connection, mutual understanding, and emotional safety
Families navigating relational stress or changing family dynamics
Parents and families preparing for children leaving home
Young adults adjusting to emotional and relational shifts that come with college, independence, and identity development
In couples work, I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — a research‑based approach that helps partners move out of cycles of conflict, disconnection, and misunderstanding into relationships marked by responsiveness, emotional closeness, and deeper connection. I support couples in expressing needs clearly, repairing ruptures, and strengthening their bond during times of stress or change.
