Healing Through Movement: Join Mary Beth Lee, LCSW and the E-Motion Community in Houston This Fall

Grief moves through us in waves, sometimes heavy, sometimes gentle, and often without clear direction. In the wake of life-disrupting loss, it can be hard to know where to turn.

That’s why the E-Motion Movement Community exists: to create space for healing, one intentional step at a time.

What Is the E-Motion Movement Community?

The E-Motion Movement Community is a free, 8-week in-person grief support group designed for individuals navigating profound loss. Whether you’re mourning the death of a loved one, experiencing a life-altering transition, or holding space for complex grief, this group offers support through two powerful tools: movement and community.

Taking place in Houston, TX from September through November, the group meets weekly to walk or run toward a shared distance goal, such as completing a 5K together, while also engaging in reflective and supportive grief practices.

What You’ll Experience:

Shared Distance Goal & Weekly Movement Plan

Your group will begin by choosing a shared physical goal (like walking or running a 5K), then work toward it week by week with the help of a personalized movement plan. The focus isn’t performance, it’s progress, connection, and support.

Weekly In-Person Gatherings

Each week includes a Sacred Circle, a 10–15 minute intentional grief practice facilitated by Mary Beth Lee, LCSW and trained E-Motion facilitator and bereaved mother. These moments offer space to reflect, feel, and connect before moving together in a walk or run toward your shared goal.

Weekly Grief-Informed Emails

Between gatherings, you’ll receive an email with:

    •    A grief concept to reflect on

    •    A related audio episode from the Rx to Feel series

    •    A quote or poem

    •    A weekly movement plan

Each email gently guides your movement and mindfulness throughout the week.

Why It Matters

Grief often lives in the body. When we move, we begin to release what’s been held inside. Movement not only supports our physical health, but also gives us rhythm, routine, and momentum when life feels paused or uncertain. And doing it alongside others who “get it” can be profoundly healing.

Who It’s For

This program is for anyone living with life-disrupting grief, including but not limited to loss of a loved one, medical or health trauma, divorce, or major life change. Participants often describe the E-Motion experience as “a breath of fresh air” and “the first place I didn’t have to explain my grief.”
